Meeting 26th February 2008
A meeting was held on Tuesday 26th February in Kelso Library, when we had a good turnout. Roll on summer time and we could sit outside. We could not get any further with "The Historian" as some people had still not read it all (including me) so we just talked about "other" books we had read. This can be very illuminating and personally I have read a number of books I would never have considered before. One of our members turned up with a catalogue of books by mail (at greatly reduced prices) which could be quite useful. However, at the moment, we are still hoping Ruth can come up with some more books we can all read and enjoy at the same time. We also had some of our members bringing along their favourite poems. One was about cats and another well known poem..."Barbara Fretchie". We hope to encourage other members to bring along their favourite poems...it makes a change. A suggestion was also made about having our meetings more structured. However I am not quite sure how we could do this. We do have twelve or thirteen people attending and it would be rather like going back to school and going round everyone individually to get their opinions. This might work on occasions but everyone likes to have their say and it could end in chaos!! However it is something to think about. Bye for now....keep reading. Ivy.
The books for the March meeting have arrived, however the requested books were on loan to another group. We now have ADAMS, Carrie, The Godmother and ROLLINS, James, Map of Bones available for collection - but hurry they are being snapped up fast. Ruth
